Welcome to August The Mansion, a historic and iconic dining destination nestled in the heart of O'Fallon, Illinois. Steeped in rich history with roots dating back to 1857 when it was built as a family farmhouse by August Wastfield, our establishment is not just a restaurant; it's a living testament to the rich history of our town, recognized as a cherished historical landmark by both the city and county. Under new ownership and after over three years of extensive renovation, we are gearing up for a grand reopening in March 2024. As we embark on this exciting chapter, we're seeking passionate individuals to join our team and be a part of something truly special where we offer a casual upscale dining experience serving New American cuisine.

Job Summary: As a Host for August The Mansion you will be helping to create exceptional experiences for our customers during their visit with us by welcoming guests, seating them in the restaurant, and helping ensure they enjoy the dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
  • Provide guests with menus.
  • Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings.
  • Inform guests of current promotions and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff.
  • Manage the flow of guests into the dining and bar areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming guests if appropriate.
  • Answer the phone and take reservations
  • Keep the host stand neat, tidy, and presentable for guests.
  • Complete side work for smooth operations and optimal guest experience.
  • Collaborate with team members throughout both FOH & BOH
Qualifications:

  • Previous restaurant hosting or serving experience preferred.
  • Friendly and customer-focused personality 
  • Ability to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance.
  • Ability to clearly communicate guests’ needs to Servers, Bussers, Managers, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone.
